This vintage artwork is a exemplary example of Mid-Century Modern Expressionist Abstract painting. The impasto technique and energetic lines and sloping movement are a classic example of Abstract Expressionism in the Mid- 1950's. The early Abstract Expressionists were initially based in New York City and were often referred to as The New York School. They were influenced by the ideas of Surrealism and aimed to make abstract art that also possessed expressive and emotional qualities.
A beautiful expressionistic, abstract painting with a vibrant palette and heavily textured technique, this mid-century oil on paper, though unsigned, originates from somewhere in Northern Europe.
This piece is in very good shape with only the natural fading of paper that comes with age, there is no flaking. The artwork comes professionally framed with a gallery style moulding and 5" archival, acid-free mat and Acrylite Conservation glazing, filtering out 99% of harmful UV light. All artwork is shipped in 14-21 days depending on the order details. Once orders are placed we will begin your custom mats and/or framing needs.
