Mid 20th Century Marius Woulfart Portrait of a Young Woman with Custom Mat

A recent purchase from Paris, this beautiful Mid-Century portrait of a young woman in charcoal is signed by the Mid-Century French artist Marius Woulfart (1905-1991). As an artist who was/is exhibited and collected internationally, this portrait represents one of his many stylistic expressions. We can't help but feel some modern styling similarities to the early female portraits by Picasso. The confident strokes, subtle shading and textural play on ochre paper, make this simple but stoic portrait a strong statement and representation of the period.

This work comes ready to frame in a 3" acid-free archival mat and foamcore backing to ensure it's preservation.
