Grenoble is one of the most significant and art historically rich vintage collections in our archive. This beautiful assemblage of Abstract and Expressionist works in black and white features an incredible group of listed artists, each widely collected and auctioned to date. The collection showcases a diverse array of backgrounds, including artists from Russia (Boris Aleksandrovich Talberg), Poland (David Lan-Bar), and France (Edward Righetti).

These exceptional artists have works represented in prestigious collections such as the Museum of Modern Art (NYC), the Smithsonian Institute of America, the Museum of Modern Art (Paris), and even in World Heritage Sites in Moscow. The stories behind these artists are incredible, and their talents are exemplary. This body of work, represented in charcoal, ink, and oil on paper, is truly one of a kind - and signed by the artist.

We encourage inquiries to provide you with the rich history behind each artist and work -- the stories of defining artists and their contributions to the history of Abstract and Expressionism.

Abstract art (1900-1950) is any form of art that does not represent reality convincingly, but instead distorts it. In this movement, artists began with a known visible object and abstracted it to produce a more simplified form. Pioneers of the Abstract Art movement include Kandinsky, Malevich and Mondrian.

Expressionism in art is defined as a modernist movement originating in Northern Europe around the beginning of the 20th century This term refers to the movement which manipulates the visual elements of an image to convey intense subjective feelings. In expressionist art, color is highly intense, brushwork is free and application is heavy or textured.

Amazingly, these exceptional works have held up to the test of time, with minimal age other than what can be expected with a body of artwork from this time period. You may find areas of fading or foxing common in a couple of works. We are happy to send detailed photos of each work upon request.

This body of work comes professionally framed in a classic gallery style moulding Acrylite Conservation Glazing, a UV filtering technology protecting works of art from the harmful effects of indoor and outdoor UV light rays(and half the weight of conventional glass). The frame moulding is available in 4 finishes upon checkout, with additional mat and frame options available upon request.
