Marcel Combot (1913-2005) was a distinguished painter from Southern France who created works primarily in the mid-20th century. Combot is a listed artist featured in the Benezit Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs, et Graveurs and has been the subject of several auctions over the years. His life in Southern France profoundly influenced his work, as seen in his depictions of classic village scenes, portraiture, still lives and everyday living. The exquisite palette, moody hues, dramatic lines and abstracted textural palette knife patterns are classic trademarks of his work. The bottom right of the painting displays the artists signature. This piece has been appraised to be created in the mid 1940's
